Directions:
From Baltimore, take I-70 West to just past Hancock. Get into your
left lane. Exit onto I-68 West. Next exit will depend where we are
camping for a given trip. Exit 68, 64 and 62 will get you into the
forest. If you are camping on your own, you must get off at exit 64,
MV Smith Road and go to the Green Ridge State Forest Headquarters and
pre-register before you set up camp. There is a fee. They have
everything you need right there, outside. If you do not register a
head of time, and set up in a site, you could either be fined, or have
to move if someone else did register first. For this year, we will be
getting off at Exit 68. You can fuel up there. GO south on Orleans
Road to Mountain Road. Turn right. Then take the first left, Yonkers
Bottom Road. Go all the way to the end, to site 84. That is where we
will be at. It is primitive camping. This is typically a 2 1/2hr trip
from Baltimore.
Requirements:
 | All types of four wheel
drives are welcome. (street legal-tagged) |
 | While on normally open
trails, airing down is not required, but recommended, as some
sections are quite rocky. If unique access is granted, airing down
to below 18PSI is required. |
 | Typically, the challenge is mild to moderate. Higher challenge
may occasionally occur, depending on weather and access. |
**Please Note**
 | Do not set up or try to claim your site without registering
first, except when you are camping with B4W at our group site. |
 | If you opt to camp elsewhere, you are on your own and must
register, first. |
 | On rare occasions, B4W may be granted some unique access to
routes typically closed. Do NOT go on these roads
without B4W. Do NOT claim to be with the club when
it is not a scheduled run. You will be fined very heavily for using
the B4W name to try to get off the hook. |
 | There are miles and miles of open roads on this forest. The ORV/OHV
loop of Stafford and East Valley Roads are open year round to the
public and do offer some varying degrees of challenge for four wheel
drive vehicles. |
 | Due to some rocky sections, skid plates are recommended. |
 | Be alert! The ORV/OHV loop is also used by ATVs and Motorcycles
that often travel at a high rate of speed. There are blind sections
on these roads. |
 | B4W is taking part in the Volunteer Trails Patrol Program
started by United. If you see illegal activity, report this to the
DNR. Try to get a full description of the vehicle, driver, direction
of travel and time of day. |
